Enriching the cultural life of the community is part of our mission. Chiquitines Cultural Workshop Inc. does this by working with community groups to help enhance their understanding of Spanish and Latin American cultures through hands on workshops that are suitable for people no matter their age or ability.
We offer workshops in dance, pre-columbian rituals, piñata making, paper craft, poncho painting, batik and sports as well as learning some simple spanish songs and traditional performances and storytelling. We are happy to discuss your group's needs and come up with a workshop that is suitable for your organisation.
Chiquitines Cultural Workshop Inc. can organise an incursion day at your school to teach your children about the diverse and colourful cultures of Spain and Latin American countries. We can tailor the day specifically to your needs with performances, simple dances, music, storytelling with shadow puppets, craft activities and food.
We have helped to create special celebration days for Selby Primary School as part of their multicultural day, Regency Primary in Wantirna and Berwick Primary School, who both study Spanish as their LOTE. Plus school workshops for the Ventana Latina Festival in Frankston.
Chiquitines Cultural Workshop Inc. are actively involved in fundraising events, to raise money for worthwhile causes. We can help in these events by performing traditional dances and raising money through facepaintiing and providing activities for children.
Some of the fundraising initiatives we have been involved with recently include Mission Mexico Children's Refuge.
Festivals are an integral part of the Spanish and Latin American cultures. Chiquitines Cultural Workshop Inc. is involved in many festivals to allow children and families to experience this vibrant part of life. They are a fun and meaningful way to engage and celebrate with the wider Hispanic community and giving the dance group an opportunity to perform.
The group has performed and been involved in Ventana Fiesta in Frankston, Spanish and Latin American Fiesta at Johnston St, "Ignite" Women's Community Dance Project, Harmony Day and the Spring Festival at Maroondah and Cultural Diversity concerts at Mowbray College, just to name a few.
